About Alstom in India

Alstom has established a strong presence in India. Currently, the company is executing metro projects in several Indian cities including Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow where it is supplying Rolling Stock manufactured out its state of the art facility at SriCity in Andhra Pradesh. In the Mainline space, Alstom is executing Signaling & Power Supply Systems for the 343 Km. section on World Bank funded Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. Phase 1 in the construction of the new electric locomotive factory for manufacturing and supply of 800 units of 12000HP locomotives is also complete at Madhepura, Bihar while the depot at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh is ready to commence operation.   • Internal:
  • Interacts with all technical and procurement players involved in the project, mostly industrialization, PrSM, CM, buyer.
  • Specific interaction with PrSM to validate Supplier capacity and ensuring logistics specifications are signed before business awards.
  • Supply chain Organization for logistics specifications, operational costs and inventory policy.
  • SDL to manage supplier’s development plans.
  • External:
  • Suppliers management during BA
  • Logistics players for logistic finalization
  • In Charge of team of material planning officer’s and ensure the material are procured and available in stock for the project start up.
  • Ensuring Purchase order processing and managing the supplier deliveries and risk according to project requirements.
  • Project Supply Chain Manager is responsible to drive key activities with the project team to ensure all conditions related to suppliers deliveries, logistics flows and infrastructure, stock policy, data and system management are met for the project ramp-up while meeting costs objectives defined during tender phase.
  • During the project life , he/she coordinates all SC related to planning changes, suppliers location changes or  technical modifications that have significant impact on suppliers capacity, logistics flows or data management.
  • During project closure, he/she coordinates all SC activities to secure the end of production while minimizing costs and obsolete inventories.



  • Set and follow parts status in the PMFU tool (Product Maturity Follow Up).
  • Ensure SC milestones are correctly set to ensure FAI on time.
  • Identify Suppliers for which capacity has to be monitored and follow action plans with SDL.
  • Ensure that Business Awards are performed with logistics specifications in line with project objectives and SC targets in term of inventory and cash.
  • Guarantee that orders to suppliers are placed on time and on quality.
  • Procuring the Long lead time parts identified during the project stage to ensure smooth flow of parts.
  • Ensuring right supplier capacity of parts which are developed for the project.
  • Provides visibility on the material coverage.
  • Pilot SC activities in case of planning changes, significant engineering changes, resourcing or double sourcing.
  • Drive the procurement team in managing priorities
  • End to end support for project deliverables until FG reaches customer.
  • Highlighting the risk and mitigation plan on supplier deliverables and Logistics to Projects / Project Planning / Industrial Planning.
  • Monitoring and Controlling the Freight Cost (In-bond and Out-bound Logistic).
  • APSYS way of working for the projects handling.


Qualifications & Skills:



  • B E / B.Tech  Mechanical or Electrical
  • IT Skills: SAP



  • Ability to summarize and focus on the critical issues
  • Working together with CFT to drive results
  • Good Communication skills
  • Multi-cultural Management Teamwork and Customer oriented
  • Data driven and courageous, rigor - Ability to manage teams in cross and multicultural relationships                                                



  • 13 to 15 years of Experience in Supply chain – Procurement / Projects
  • Knowledge on Supplier handling and procurement process
  • Handling the project supply chain activity
  • Ability to deal quickly and effectively with a variety of topics
  • Ability to summarize and focus on the critical issues
  • Driving a team
